A Yucca Valley woman was arrested Monday on suspicion of filing a fraudulent auto insurance claim after an uninsured family member crashed her car.

Barbara Olson, 53, was booked into West Valley Detention Center in Rancho Cucamonga on suspicion of auto insurance fraud.

The San Bernardino County District Attorney's Office said Olson owned a 1990 Chevy Silverado in October 2008. To keep her insurance costs down, she excluded other family members from driving the vehicle on her policy.

A family member later got into an accident while driving the truck on Highway 62 in Yucca Valley. Olson called her insurance company and said she was the driver at the time of the crash.

Prosecutors said they suspect Olson lied to her insurance company to be compensated for damages caused by the uninsured driver.
